Factory issues with oil starvation caused many early deaths of these units, most of which failed within 50K miles. The IHI units are also not known for reliability when the boost is turned up. Instead of using the VF40 turbo as a base of the turbocharger upgrade, BNR Supercars offers 4 hybrid turbochargers that take place of the IHI CHRA (center housing rotating assembly). We utilize the original equipment turbine housing, compressor housing, wastegate actuator and water lines on the first 3 stages. We highly customize a Mitsubishi TD05 CHRA to fit in the stock VF40 housings. On the outside, the turbo looks stock, but the insides are all tricked out! We have the best quality controls and all the assembly and balancing is done in house! A 1 year warranty comes with every turbocharger we manufacture. This addition to the VF40 gives the ultimate response of a smaller turbocharger with the punch of a larger turbocharger. The VF40 comes with an 8cm turbine housing that outflows the MHI 7cm turbine housing. The larger turbine housing allows more flow and better power numbers. Upgraded actuators are optional for those wanting 20 or more psi (1.5 bar and up).
